This next track is one of the seminal tracks on the self-titled album by Rheingold. It's not quite a dance-able, but it builds and has a great sound.

Finally, I feature a tune taken from the motherload of NDW, Brotbeutel, where you can go to really discover NDW with lots of rare stuff. This is the very first release of Ideal, which was also one of the big NDW stars.

Wow, can't thank you enough for posting these. We first discovered Trio when the "Anna" video was first played on VM3 in 1983(?). Got into Kraftwerk, Ledernacken, Liabach, Falco and whatever else we could find (in Ohio at that time). Most record stores just have oompah music filed under Germany, so this is the motherlode!

Thanks for reminding me of some songs from my youth. And some obscure tracks I've never hört. Spliff are more famous for "Carbonara". (Yes, indeed - a song about food.)
Sometimes I wish I could watch all these "Hitparade"-Shows from these years again - every saturday live from Berlin with Dieter Thomas Heck. A ritual then because the "Formel Eins"-Show was later and featured more the english artists. The "Hitparade" in the beginning only allowed songs in german - a lot of Schlager, yes, but the NDW was also featured and later they allowed english songwriters too.

Spliff, according to a German friend of mine, used to back Nina Hagen. Heard this track years ago, and never thought I would hear it again!
You own the original vinyl signal of Ideal/Berlin? It's a rare collector's item, it could make you rich.

Unfortunately, I don't own the original of Ideal on vinyl - as you can see from what I say above - I took the tune and the picture from the Brotbeutel blog :)
But it looks like it has sold on ebay for only euro 21. These days very little vinyl is that expensive anymore.

Yesterday I saw a Trio Documentary on TV and recognised which is (or was) Germany's best Band ever. I hope you know also the older NDW-Stuff. To my absolutely favoristes belongs IDEAL and they made the best Berlin (West-Berlin!) Song ever - thaaanks for the post of the 7" Version. R.I.P. F.J. Krueger. About three years ago the guitar player from IDEAL died and I will never forget watching him 5 minutes before the supermarket closes buying toilet tissue! He's also one of the few people I asked for an autograph. That was when he played with the Lassie Singers a long time after IDEAL. And he still drawed an IDEAL "Logo" on the Paper. I said: "What's that?" He said: "It's an old sign, ha ha ha!".
